Editorial Integrity

Every manuscript passes through a layered review: structural assessment, line editing, and a final sensitivity read. We do not rush, and we do not cut corners. Each round includes a written report so you understand every change.

"They caught inconsistencies I'd missed after five drafts." — D. Hennessy, Cork

Author-Led Approach

Your voice stays central. Our editors shape and refine — they do not rewrite. We work from a shared editorial brief that you approve before any changes begin. This keeps the collaboration honest and the output authentic.

Which Path Fits Your Project?

Select the track that matches where you are right now

✎ Early Draft

You have 15,000+ words and a rough structure. You need a developmental editor to help you find the book inside the draft. We assess, outline, and guide you chapter by chapter.

⚙ Revision Ready

Your manuscript is complete but needs tightening. We provide a structural report, line edits, and a follow-up review. Most revision projects take 6–9 weeks from start to finish.

✓ Submission Prep

Your book is nearly there. You need a query letter, synopsis, sample chapter polish, and a submission strategy. We prepare you for agents and publishers with a tailored package.

How We Work With Authors

We begin every engagement with a 45-minute manuscript assessment call. No obligation, no pressure. We read a sample of your work beforehand and arrive with specific, actionable observations — not vague encouragement.

From there, we build a tailored editorial plan. Some authors need weekly check-ins and chapter-by-chapter guidance. Others prefer to work independently and submit sections for review. We accommodate both styles.

"The assessment call alone gave me more direction than two years of writing groups." — F. Molloy, Galway

Portrait of a BookTrust Interface editorial team member

A note from our lead editor: "We deliberately keep our client list small. At any given time, we work with no more than twelve authors. This means your project gets sustained attention — not a rushed pass between dozens of other manuscripts. If we cannot take your project on immediately, we will tell you honestly and offer a realistic start date."

— R. Kavanagh, Editorial Director, BookTrust Interface

Readiness Check — Is Your Manuscript Ready for Editing?

Not every manuscript needs professional editing right away. Answer these questions honestly before reaching out:

Have you completed at least one full draft from start to finish?Required for all tracks
Do you have a clear sense of your intended reader?Helpful, not essential
Have you received any feedback from beta readers or writing peers?Useful context for us
Are you open to structural changes, not just surface corrections?Essential mindset

If you answered yes to at least the first and last questions, you are likely ready to begin. Start your assessment ↓

What Authors Say

"I came in with 120,000 words and no idea what my book was actually about. By the end of the developmental edit, I had 78,000 words and a story that finally worked."

— A. Brennan, Dublin · Literary Fiction

"The submission prep was invaluable. Within three months of sending out queries, I had two agents requesting full manuscripts. I signed with one of them."

— C. Ní Dhomhnaill, Limerick · Memoir

"Honest, thorough, and respectful. They never tried to make my book into something it wasn't. The structural report alone was worth the investment."

— T. Whelan, Waterford · Non-Fiction
